We’ve set a beta date for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and they’re coming soon.
Announced today during the Call of Duty League Championship Weekend, the Modern Warfare 2 beta will begin on the weekend of September 16. As we already know, PS4 and PS5 players will get the beta first, but it looks like the leaked beta date is all about the money.
If you’re a PlayStation player and you’ve already pre-ordered Modern Warfare 2, you’ll get beta access starting Friday, September 16th. The beat will be accessible to all other PlayStation players starting Sunday, September 18.
The Modern Warfare 2 beta will also open to all Xbox and PC players next weekend. For Xbox and PC players who have pre-ordered the game, you’ll get earlier and longer access. Here are the details for the Modern Warfare 2 beta:

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Open Beta Weekend Two
- PlayStation Open Beta – Thursday 22nd September @ 10am PT/1pm ET/6pm BST to Monday 26th September
- Xbox and PC Early Access (Pre-Order) – Thursday 22nd September @ 10am PT/1pm ET/6pm BST to Monday 26th September
- Xbox and PC Open Beta – Saturday 24th September @ 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm BST to Monday 26th September
Activision and Infinity Ward have laid out what we can expect from the upcoming beta: “A robust multiplayer experience beyond the core 6v6 experience, a variety of well-designed maps of all sizes, and equally impressive modes, Progression experience and more.” You’ll earn in-game rewards through the trial beta, and users who pre-order the Vault Edition of Modern Warfare 2 will be able to use the included rewards during this beta period.
We also learned that a big demo called Call of Duty: Next Time will take place on the same day as the PlayStation beta begins. Expect more information on what to expect from Modern Warfare 2 and the future of the franchise.
