It seems that most of the well-known actors are entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and now Giancarlo Esposito has hinted that he wants to join the MCU.

Posted on TikTok Countdown Geek, Esposito took to the stage at the TJH Superhero Auto Show and Comic-Con in San Antonio, Texas. Responding to fans’ questions, Esposito said that while the internet would love to see him as an iconic villain like Magneto or even Doctor Doom, he would love to play Professor X.

“I haven’t worked for Marvel yet. I’ve talked to them in the room with them,” Esposito said, “I’m going to do something a little different. I’m going to get it out in the universe [I’d like to play] Professor X. “

Esposito is best known for his roles as Gus Flynn in “Breaking Bad” and “Beautiful Attorney.” He also appears in The Boys and The Mandalorian. Video game fans will also recognize him in Far Cry 6, where he plays the main villain Anton Castillo. Actors are often selected for bid packages, so the turn as Professor X is a shake-up for him and fans alike.

Charles Xavier is the founder and occasional leader of the X-Men in Marvel Comics. On the big screen, Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy have both played characters from the Fox X-Men universe. Stewart briefly reprised the Doctor Strange character in the Multiverse of Madness, but the appearance is best described as just a cameo. So, we’re still waiting for the MCU version of Professor X to arrive.

Who will be the new Avengers in the MCU?

Fans have been waiting for mutants to join the MCU since Disney acquired Fox in 2019. While we haven’t seen any X-Men appear outside of cameo appearances, the Marvel Disney+ Women’s series does have a solid take on this group of superhero mutants.

We know that Phase 6 of the MCU includes a Fantastic Four movie and two Avengers movies, so anything after Infinity Saga has the potential to be a big party for the MCU mutants. While fans wait for more information about the X-Men in the MCU, they can expect the X-Men ’97 series to hit Disney+ next year.
