Getting around the Mojave Desert in Fallout: New Vegas is a little too easy once you hit enough locations. As much as patrolling might make you wish there was a nuclear winter, you’re not really over by the midpoint of the game, especially after you’ve found New Vegas. So why not make fast travel more exciting?
Transporter – Immersive Fast Travel Nexus Mods does just that – introducing the Mole Rat taxi service. Yes, you’re not mistaken. This mod adds a brand new faction and quests, and also gives you access to unorthodox modes of transportation. The service may not be cheap, but it offers a quirkier and still lore-friendly way to get around the desert.
“Immersive and revolutionize your fast travel experience wherever you go!”, read the mod’s description, introducing the new faction. “[The] The mod implements an alternative to fast travel, adds a new faction, a new settlement, a quest, and… mole holes? “
The brand new transporter faction has been described as one of the “oldest” groups on the West Coast. They have tribal origins and have long been able to tame moles and use them as transportation. They share the benefits of this skill with outsiders, of course for a fee.
This mod doesn’t just add a more immersive way to fast travel. 300 lines of voice dialogue have also been added to flesh out the new faction. You’ll also get the new settlement of Pueblo Manifesto, which is home to the Transporters. Here, you’ll find a merchant and a side quest.
This mod is compatible with the popular Tale of the Two Badlands and all New Vegas DLC expansions. You can even go to DLC-exclusive locations and program separate immersive fast-travel methods for their settings.
This is far from the only mod that increases the immersion of New Vegas players. Another modder lets you truly become a messenger, as we’ve recently covered. You also can’t simply quickly go to the drop-off point whenever you accept a delivery job. However, it’s a great way to make some caps. Probably the only honest way to make money in the Mojave Desert.
