On stage at EVO 2022, SNK announced that a new entry in the long-dormant Fatal Fury/Garou series is in development. This will be the first entry in the series since 1999’s Garou: Mark of the Wolves. No launch window or platform was named, as the announcement was only paired with a brief trailer and a piece of art.
For now, SNK is only referring to the game as “New Fatal Fury/Garou,” but it does appear to be a follow-up to Mark of the Wolf, as the teaser trailer to reveal rock howardthe protagonist of that title.

The brief trailer gives us three cryptic hints of the game’s story, including “The Legendary City Still Breathes,” “The Hungry Wolves Return to Prowl” and “A New Destiny Hidden in the Darkness.” Following the reveal of The Rock, two silhouettes were also shown in the background in the trailer. The two characters appear to be recurring characters throughout the series, Billy Kane and Garou: Mark of the Wolf’s final boss, Kain R. Heinlein.
The Fatal Fury series, also known as the Garou series, started in 1991 with the release of Fatal Fury: King of Fighters on Neo Geo. The series ran on Neo Geo throughout the 1990s until Wolf: Mark of the Wolf in late 1999. The series stopped after that, which means this newly announced title will be the first of the series in over 20 years.
