pirates catcher Mike Evans “tuned” his hamstring on Friday. For now, Bucs doesn’t seem overly concerned about it.
“He was sore,” coach Todd Powers told reporters Saturday. “He’s day in and day out. He’ll be fine. It’s just a matter of when we put him there.”
Reporters tried to ask for more information, including the length of the absence and whether he would play in his first game of the preseason. Consistently terse, Powers would be proud of Bill Belichick, who went on to say simply that Evans was “everyday.”
Evans has been a very durable player. In his eight-year career, he has only missed six games in total. He is the only player in league history to start his career with eight consecutive 1,000-yard seasons.
