If you’ve been playing Sonic Origins lately, you’ve probably heard enough jumping sound effects for a lifetime. No, not because the game is a platformer, but because Tails has a very annoying habit of disappearing offscreen and mashing jumps when he tries to get back to his hedgehog friend, but in vain. Thankfully, this should now be a thing of the past.
Sonic Origins’ latest patch, version 1.4, finally addresses Tails’ devious AI. It also fixed some factual errors in the game’s museum mode, where several songs were listed incorrectly. On top of that, we have a ton of fixes that we want to make for a smoother gaming experience for the series.

The biggest fix here is a change to Tails’ AI. In the original Sonic 2, if Tails stayed off screen for too long, he would simply spawn wherever Sonic was. This is very important, considering that Sonic is very fast and is likely to charge ahead of Tails. However, this didn’t work in Sonic Origins, instead the fox got stuck and jumped in place repeatedly.However, according to Patch Noteswhich should now be fixed.
There are too many other bug fixes and performance improvements here, but most of them are related to addressing soft locks, audio glitches, and issues that cause players to lose their lives for no apparent reason. According to the patch notes, there are a total of 47 fixes, so the problem you’re having is most likely fixed.
The patch even fixes PC issues, with the developers addressing a bug that caused the game to use a less powerful GPU. However, complaint still coming in.
