The announcement was made at EVO, where SNK noted that it will be working with Code Mystics to update the game’s network code.This code will be based on the GGPO solution previously used King of Fighters 15. This update is scheduled for release in Spring 2023, four years after the initial release. The update will be rolling out to the PC (Steam and EGS versions), PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series versions of the game, with Switch and Stadia omitted.
The announcement to roll back the network code was widely supported by fans and the FGC, who noted that the previous network code was initially released unsatisfactory. Hopefully this implementation will allow more fans to try out a rather low-key fighting game and improve the online experience for those who have been following it since its release.
