Former Trump administration Attorney General Bill Barr said Friday on CBS News’ streaming network that the Justice Department is “taking a hard look” at top Trump allies and the former president himself.
“Does the new grand jury subpoena on January 6 indicate that the Justice Department is fully focused on former President Trump?” asked CBS News reporter Kathryn Herridge.
Barr said: “I think it’s definitely a big event. It changes my perspective on what’s going on. From my point of view, from my point of view, the department is really focused on the lower-level people. As you know, They’ve been chasing people who come into the Capitol since the election. And I don’t think they’re paying too much attention to the top and leaving it to the congressional committees. But it shows me that they’re taking a serious look at the top groups, Including the president and the people around him who are involved in this. They are also trying to rule on executive privilege, in my opinion.”
“Did you notice when former White House counsel Pat Cipollon issued a subpoena?” Hirridge asked.
“Yeah, that’s the most important thing,” Barr said.
