Finally, Hugh Neutron joined the Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl. Yes, stop Neutron, not his son, Jimmy. As we’ve come to expect from a platform fighter, his moves are full of references to the show, along with a bunch of jokes.

As Hugh’s voice actor Mark DeCarlo discovered, Hugh’s recovery moves refer to his “life-changing” time sitting on a banana. This is far from the only reference in his moves, and the developers are obviously taking great care in creating his attacks and animations.

In addition to the banana recovery, Hugh has a victory animation that references his Donut Boy song. To be fair, the ongoing development team at Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl has been paying attention to fan requests.

The best part is that Mark gets a reference as soon as he sees the banana. “Wow, this changed my life,” he declared, testing Hugh as soon as the update went live.

Having spent months mobilizing his fans (#Hughnation) to get his character into the game, it’s great to see him having fun and experiencing what he calls “Hugh’s greatest hit.” He eventually got the hang of control and took Nigel Thornberry with a duck. Being able to ride Hugh’s motorcycle is another issue entirely, though, as he keeps taking it off the stage. In his defense, it’s not easy to ride a bike on a floating pie.

Hugh Neutron is in the game right now. He is one of the paid DLC characters, unlocked with his alternate costume and stage for £3.99. He can be purchased as a bundle with Jenny Wakeman and (future version) Rocko for £9.29. Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is available on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC.
