A survey released Thursday by Rasmussen Reports found that Americans consider Florida more livable than blue states like New York or California.

the survey established When choosing between urban (18%), suburban (31%) and rural (22%) areas or small towns (26%), respondents were relatively divided in their preferences for where to live.

The majority of respondents (57%) said they lived in a state other than California, Texas, Florida, New York, Pennsylvania or Illinois.

Respondents were then asked to choose which state they would move to if they had a choice. Options include California, Texas, Florida, New York, Pennsylvania, and Illinois, as well as “some other states.”

Of all the specific states listed, Florida had the highest percentage, with 18% saying they would move to the Sunshine State. California came in a close second with 11% choosing the Golden State, followed by New York (10%), Texas (9%), Pennsylvania (6%) and Illinois (4%). More than a third (37%) said “other states.”

Florida is also the top choice for a particular state listed by Republicans (26%) and independents (15%), tied with Democrats (14%) for second choice:

Given the opportunity to relocate, 31% of Pennsylvanians, 20% of Illinois residents and 16% of New Yorkers would choose Florida. Few Floridians responded, with only seven (7%) preferring to live in New York, 4% (4%) preferring to live in Pennsylvania, and none (0%) would move to Illinois if given the chance .

Given the choice to live in any state, 26% of Republicans would choose Florida, 14% of Democrats and 15% of those not affiliated with any major party would choose Florida. Fourteen percent (14%) of Democrats would choose California, but only 9% (9%) of Republicans and 11% of independents had that preference. While 16% of Democrats said they would rather live in New York, only 5% (5%) of Republicans and 8% (8%) of independents would prefer to be New Yorkers if they could live where they wanted of any state.

Florida is the state of choice for 24% of blacks, 15% of whites and 21% of other minorities. Given the choice, 10 percent of whites and blacks and 15 percent of other minorities would move to California. Only 8 percent (8 percent) of whites, 13 percent of blacks and other minorities would like to live in New York.

The investigation comes after Gov. Ron DeSantis (right) has continually thrust the Sunshine State into the national spotlight for his relentless pursuit of what he calls a libertarian policy — from opposing vaccines Ask to stop the sobriety indoctrination of children in the classroom.

Recently, DeSantis caused a stir after a moratorium woke state attorney Andrew Warren for refusing to enforce the law.

“He shouldn’t put himself above that [the legislature’s action] And said he wouldn’t enforce the law,” DeSantis said Thursday. “We’re not going to elect someone in one part of the state with a veto over the state’s decisions on these important issues. “
