A new FFXIV fan video pays homage to one of the most iconic and beloved Lord of the Rings memes in Square Enix’s MMORPG, whose creator passed away in March. If you were online in the mid-2000s, you were almost certainly very familiar with Erwin ‘Tron’ Beekveld’s Tolkien-themed earworms “They Bring the Hobbit to Isengard” – first uploaded as a video on the Albino Blacksheep website 2005 August.

This original video A remix of several scenes from The Two Towers, the second Lord of the Rings film, into an unreasonably catchy dance track. As the title suggests, it centers on Orlando Bloom’s character Legolas shouting, “They’re going to bring The Hobbit to Isengard!” The two-minute video has garnered a huge amount of money online. So popular that LOTR director Peter Jackson uploaded a video on his Facebook page. Bloom sings to the track.

Now, FFXIV creators Plam & Switch have made a Final Fantasy XIV spin on the video, reimagining it as “they brought Lalas to Garlemald.” This video is a complete reimagining of the song and the video it makes in multiplayer. As you might have guessed, it replaces The Hobbit with the diminutive Lara Fel and Isengard with the imperial home of can find them in their YouTube channelor below – but note that this clip includes clips from the climax of the base A Realm Reborn campaign, as well as some minor Endwalker clips.

Sadly, in March 2022, it was reported that the original creator of the meme Bickveld dies Died at 52 after battling lung cancer. In addition to his most famous works, he has also composed remixes of many classic Commodore 64 themes. It’s refreshing that his legacy still brings joy to people on the internet 17 years later.
