On Saturday, the Cleveland Browns activated two players from their physically incapable roster.

According to Cleveland.com, rookie wide receiver David Bell and veteran linebacker Anthony Walker will return to practice. Bell missed the summer with a foot injury, while Walker suffered a groin injury.

Bell, a third-round pick from Purdue, hopes to buy time in the trio with Amari Cooper and Donovan People’s Jones. At 6-2 pounds and 205 pounds, Bell is in excellent shape. He ran a somewhat slow 40-yard dash in 4.57 seconds, but seemed quicker than he was in school. In three seasons with the Boilermakers, he had 232 catches for 2,946 yards and 21 points.

Walker came to Cleveland last offseason after four years with the Indianapolis Colts. He played 13 games last season, started 12 and led the team with 113 tackles (so far). He also has a career-high 5.8 percent turnover rate, according to Pro-Football-Reference. He should see plenty of minutes on Cleveland’s defense again in 2022.

If, as expected, Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson’s suspension for violating a personal conduct policy after being accused of sexual misconduct by two dozen women is extended on appeal, Cleveland’s defense will face Pressure to carry the team with Jacoby Brissett at center. Walker’s presence should help in that area. Meanwhile, Bell has to develop a rapport with Brissett through the other camps to become a contributor.
