Starfield’s release date details may remain a mystery, as the upcoming QuakeCon is dominated by Elder Scrolls, Fallout, and Redfall, leaving us guessing at the launch of Bethesda’s space RPG, and still endlessly working on aspects of the first gameplay trailer .

The Elder Scrolls: Online appears to be the central focus of this year’s event, and of course, named in honor of Doom creator id Software’s seminal FPS. The first day of QuakeCon, August 18, featured a debate panel on ESO, as well as a live dungeon challenge run by Elder Scrolls speedrunner Olibeau. There’s also an Elder Scrolls-themed cooking activity (sweet bread, anyone?) and a workshop on the basics ESO beginners need to know. Fallout 76 will also get some QuakeCon attention, thanks to a debate panel about the upcoming expansion of The Pitt, as well as live broadcasts from some of Bethesda’s own development team. Arkane’s upcoming vampire FPS Redfall will be included as part of the demo, comparing it to the studio’s 2021 shooter Deathloop, as well as the main Quake pro tournament, which still surprises us even after 26 years.

However, Starfield does not appear to have been invited. Given some recent news about a possible release date, and hints that the RPG might have a survival mechanic, we hoped that QuakeCon would give us a chance to learn more about Bethesda’s big space adventure, but right now, it’s looking like a no-go show. That being said, the gaming industry is always full of surprises, so maybe, just maybe, Bethesda will pull Starfield out of the bag for QuakeCon to reveal. In the meantime, we’ve put together a guide to Game Center locations, including New Atlantis and Neon City. You can also read How Star Skills Work, as well as our guide to Star Traits.
