Four people were seriously injured Thursday night when lightning struck outside the White House.

The two adult males and the two adult females were transportation Hospitals in the area suffered serious life-threatening injuries, according to DC Fire and EMS.

Vito Maggiolo, spokesperson for DC Fire and EMS Say In the video statement:

At 6:52 p.m., DC Fire and EMS received a report of a lightning strike in Lafayette Park that injured multiple patients. When we arrived, we found a total of four patients. There are two adult males and two adult females. All four suffered life-threatening serious injuries. We were able to rapidly treat and transport all four patients, who were all taken to area hospitals.

Maggiolo also praised the U.S. Park Police and U.S. Secret Service for their quick responses to lightning strikes.

“We would like to take note of the uniformed personnel of the U.S. Secret Service and U.S. Park Police who witnessed this lightning strike, and I would like to thank them for their immediate response to the scene and for providing assistance to the four injured,” Maggiolo concluded.
