At EVO 2022, PlayStation is asking players which NFTs they are interested in buying through a survey.
On Twitter, user snorlaxownz posted a screenshot of a survey they received from PlayStation asking, “Which of the following NFTs/digital collectibles would you be most interested in buying?” Answers included EVO-branded collectibles, favorite music Artists, favorite esports players and teams, PlayStation items, and favorite game characters.
IGN confirmed the survey on EVO, at least indicating that PlayStation is assessing user interest in NFTs.

PlayStation has solved NFTs before. Last month, Sony launched a new PlayStation Stars loyalty program that allows players to earn digital collectibles, such as statues of its iconic characters. However, Sony clarified that these digital collectibles in the program are not NFTs as they do not use any blockchain technology.
Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmed Take note of this EVO survey Not related to the PlayStation Stars program, and the term “digital collectibles” is just a term often used interchangeably with NFTs.
The gaming industry has been fighting against NFTs. Major companies like Valve have banned NFTs on Steam, and Xbox’s Phil Spencer says that in the current iteration, NFTs are more exploitative than creative. However, other companies like Square Enix have started to embrace them. Square Enix recently started selling NFT-enabled Final Fantasy VII Cloud figures.
PlayStation acquired EVO last year. It’s unclear what stance Sony will take on NFTs, as the PlayStation Stars program doesn’t have them. However, this EVO survey suggests they may still be under consideration.
