Mario Kart 8 Deluxe placeholder music files have been spotted after the latest update, which could hint at a future Booster Course Pass DLC circuit.
The 50-second video contains each of the 15 found music files, but only plays the first few seconds of each track. That’s because “prefetch” files are designed to kick off the music quickly until the entire song is playing in the background. It also looks like the YouTuber is able to identify every song in their classic Mario Kart circuit. A list of circuits can be found below and may appear in future Booster Course Pass DLC waves:
- London Loop (Mario Kart Tour)
- Taoyuan (DS)
- Cloth Lake/Broken Pier (GBA)
- Rocky Mountain (3DS)
- Berlin Path (Mario Kart Tour)
- Waluigi Stadium/Wario Colosseum (Game Cube)
- Mount Pleasure
- Rainbow Road (3DS)
- Amsterdam Drift (Mario Kart Tour)
- Singapore Circuit (Mario Kart Tour)
- LA Circle (Mario Kart Tour)
- Sunset Wilderness (GBA)
- Bangkok Rush (Mario Kart Tour)
- Vancouver Speed (Mario Kart Tour)
- Maple Avenue (Wii)
The Booster Course DLC was announced earlier this year and will include 48 courses. Wave one was released shortly after March 18 and included the first eight tracks. Released on August 4, Wave 2 features eight courses, including a brand new track called Sky-High Sundae. The Booster Course DLC itself costs $25. It’s also included in the Nintendo Switch Online+ Expansion Pass at no extra cost.
Elsewhere, there are rumors that Mario Kart 9 is in development and will include a “new twist.” According to Kantan Games consultant Dr. Serkan Toto, the game is currently “in active development” and Nintendo may launch new titles this year.
