Mud director Jeff Nichols’ new film has a star-studded cast.Every deadline (opens in new tab), his new film The Bikeriders will star Jodie Comer, Austin Butler and Tom Hardy. The film is believed to be an original story inspired by Danny Lyon’s book of the same name.
First published in 1968, The Bikeriders features photos and stories of members of the Outlaws motorcycle club in Chicago. Lyon himself was a member of the club and shared personal and gritty anecdotes about the club members.
Nichols’ adaptation will take inspiration from this and set his version in the fictional Midwestern town of the 1960s. Like the book, The Bikeriders movie will focus on members of a motorcycle club. This will happen over a decade as the club grows from a community center to a darker place.
There’s a lot of talk about Butler right now after Butler’s career-best performance in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis. He is currently shooting Dune 2 with Zendaya and Timothée Chalamet.
Comer has been wowing audiences at the National Theatre’s live performance of the Prima Facie, which has become the company’s biggest launch in theaters since the pandemic began. She’s gearing up for another Broadway role in 2023.
Hardy recently starred in the final season of Peaky Blinders and leads Venom 2 when it opens in 2021. He’ll next appear in Gareth Evans’ Netflix film Havoc, about the drug deal going awry.
