Terraria 1.4.4 Update The Labor of Love Project puts an end to your ravaged jungle woes forever, a major quality of life change that will have a huge impact on the players making the game. Players will no longer have to spend hours digging their jungles to isolate them from evil, or resorting to Terraria mods to save biomes lost to corruption in co-op, all thanks to the addition of A new block type.

As the Terraria 1.4.4 update release gets closer, developer Re-Logic has finally revealed the “thing” it’s been teasing – introducing Infested Mud Tile. This may not sound exciting, but veteran Terraria players will be aware of the nightmares caused by evil biomes encroaching on your jungle tiles. This change allows mud tiles to be infected without turning into dirt, which makes evil biomes much less of a threat to the long-term health of the jungle.

When in Hardmode (the second half of the Terraria world progression), tiles affected by Corruption, Crimson, or Hallow will slowly spread their infection to nearby blocks. This means that if left unchecked, biomes can slowly take over your entire world. While the jungle is immune to divine influences, it is vulnerable to any evil biome (Corruption or Crimson) that happens to be present in your world.

It’s a pain in any biome, but endgame items like purification powder and environmental modifiers can reverse the infection and sanitize the area back to its world state. The new potions in 1.4.4 even help players spot any evil patches around the map so they can be dealt with quickly. So what’s wrong with the jungle?

In short, one of the effects of spreading evil is to dry out the main pillar mud blocks in the jungle and turn them into normal mud blocks. This cannot be easily reversed, which means that jungles hit by Corruption or Crimson spread can be completely destroyed. If too much mud is converted, the jungle area will turn into a standard forest biome – making it harder to get key late game jungle resources without more work.

Often, this results in many players carving out a wide tunnel around their jungle biome so that no evil biome can spread through the gap. This update makes that a thing of the past, as you can now always use a decontamination powder or a climate changer to restore rotting mud to its regular sticky brown stuff (and we’re not talking about the most discussed stuff) poo block in a new update, either).

Labor of Love has also been added to the Terraria gear loadout.
