Dead by Daylight developer Behaviour Interactive is developing a new first-person raid game called Meet Your Maker. Set in a pristine post-apocalyptic wasteland, but not an open sandbox like Rust, it takes Behaviour’s signature asynchronous multiplayer and applies it to base building.

One group of players is tasked with building bases, flying and moving around in first person, while the other group is tasked with raiding. If you’re a builder, you need to fortify and protect your outpost, and if you’re a raider, you need to demolish it (thanks, European players). Builders can use traps, bombs, waste disposal, and more to keep raiders from getting deep into the fort.

Builders can then watch a video of the raiders attacking their fort and use that information to improve their next build, making it harder for the next group of raiders. To make sure nothing is offensive, there is a reporting system built into the game that lets you flag creations.

The attackers are given a harpoon gun and a melee weapon and grenades – the purpose is to break into the fort, get the artillery, and leave. But there is no health bar. It’s a hit, so you’ll have to handle these players’ carefully crafted interiors with extreme care.

A genmat is a genetic material that you can find in every outpost – every creation will have a harvester bot that lays out the path to find it, so it’s up to the builder to make sure the path is as dangerous as possible.

But it’s not all doom and gloom. Builders can also use decorations to make their forts pretty and aesthetically pleasing, essentially giving them the tools to become level designers. You can then share these custom levels with your friends and challenge each other to complete your own creations.

Meet Your Maker is coming to Steam, PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S in 2023. However, you can sign up for the playtest on August 23rd.
